Again, in my experience I personally feel like there's a point of diminishing returns with a high power 6mt setup thanks to the super short gearing. If you get a chance to ride in similarly set up cars (there are several on this forum) definitely do. Having seen a couple water/meth systems fail (despite having the off the shelf failsafes installed), personally I'd never run it on a dd especially considering the alternatives. as well as all the standard monitoring tools. fluid level detector, pressure switch, flow switch, power loss relay. If you do go this route, make sure you consider all your failsafe options. I like water/meth setups for drag racing if you need to cool the charge beyond what your intercooler and fuel is providing, but monitoring it on a daily basis seems like more trouble than it's worth. Talk to the folks here who have run anything bigger than a 20g with a tmic and raced/driven their car hard.įor a daily driven car, you have a lot safer alternatives to water/meth. The ecu will pull timing and you'll be pissed at the lower performance. No matter what you do (coating, wrapping, thermal dispersant, etc.) you will still heat soak after a couple hard pulls with a tmic and larger turbo. Consider different fuel like Jason mentioned. Twin scroll is fine but a lot more work like you mentioned.
Stock location turbo housing choices (size-wise) are a lot better now then they were a few years ago, but maintenance and changes to your system can be a lot easier with a rotated system, space is less of an issue, and if you go with a larger than standard size inlet, you won't have to fight a silicone adapter wedged under your intake manifold. In that case consider rotated, fmic, 30r-ish size. also right now i got a big tmic but can switch to a front and fab that piping to if need but dont really want to spend the extra money if i dont have to.Īnd to make a few of you guys laugh i was thinking aobut building a compound turbo setup but from the sounds of it, it would be very very very hard to tune.Ĭlick to expand.Again, what's your budget? Lastly im talking twin scroll t4 7064 or 7670. Second is a 7064 or 7670 on a t3 on a rotated. with 8mm phenolic spacers that i have already, i can fit the 3.5 inlet, only question is the firewall cleanence for the downpipe. first i was possible thinking a a efr 7064 t3 stock location. they are simple, easy and not horrible expensive. O to note, i do metal fab and welding basically all everyday so that is not and issue, aswell as i have ever tool i will ever need in the shop or at my dad's shop.įirst the easiest ones are atp stock location gtx3071 or 3076 with external gates. some of my ideas here come from that, tell me if they are bad or not.
there is no running to lean basically and you can throw a ton of boost at it (i used to run 60 PSI all day long in duramax with compound setups. i used to diesels (been doing diesel performance on the side for 5 years), which basically is fuel and air and thats about it. im not looking for the fastest car around, im building the funnest one to drive. i want fast spoolup but really want the care to be a midrange monster (3-6000 rpms). so here is my what im looking at.Ĥ00-450whp on 91 octane with 70/30 water meth. ok so im looking at the best result that are somewhat affordable, and the fun to build. toys, i tell you they are like a disease lol. Ok guys i havent even got the motor together and the car running yet but im already thinking about the next wave of stuff.
